Ten Things of Thankful 9/4/20

1) Being thankful has, for me, become a way of life. I am grateful for the opportunity to return here and share some of my thankful thoughts with you!

2) I’m thankful for the friends who have been urging me to return to blogging. I lack self discipline but the desire is always there, and it’s long since time to get back in the routine!

3) I am delighted and thankful to discover that WordPress has a new much simpler to use format that makes creating and editing a post so quick and easy!

4) I’m thankful to see that the Ten Things of Thankful blog hop is still going strong after all this time! 😊

5) I’m thankful for the blogging friends that showed up on my first two posts this week to say hi and welcome back. It made me feel right at home again!

6) I’m so very thankful for a week with temperatures that have finally dipped below the triple digit mark after months of searing heat in West Texas this summer. It’s funny, but even 85 feels good after 107!

7) I’m thankful for the people who inspire me and encourage me to step out of my comfort zone and try something new. At sixty-six I’m learning the basics of quilting and having so much fun with it! Old dogs can learn new tricks! 🙂

8) I’m very thankful that, so far, none of my extended family have been hit with the Covid virus, and no one has been laid off or lost their jobs due to the pandemic. My heart goes out to everyone who is experiencing these nightmares.

9) I am thankful that, being retired now, I have the amazing freedom to plan my days as I see fit and choose the people I want to share my time and energy with.

10) Last, but not least, I am most thankful for the growing spiritual awakening that has been occurring in my life. I can see more clearly!

And there we have it, just ten of the many big and little blessings in my life… assignment done in under thirty minutes! 😊

I encourage you to check out the Ten Things of Thankful weekly blog hop. Read about what others are feeling grateful for this week and maybe it will inspire you to add a post of your own. It doesn’t have to be ten things, any expression of gratitude is welcome!

Author: Josie Two Shoes

I've been blogging off and on since August of 2006. I adopted the pen name Josie Two Shoes in 2007 as I began a new chapter of my life standing on my own two feet. Now I'm married to the man of my dreams; we live in dusty West Texas with a house full of furkids. I am an Aquarian by birth, and although I am past sixty and slightly frayed around the edges, my fascination with this thing called life continues. Faith, family, and friends are important to me; so are honesty, trust, tolerance, compassion and kindness. I'm pretty up front about most things, so if you want to know something more about me, just ask! :-) You can also reach me by email and find me at my Facebook page.

  1. You’re back!!! Hurray!!!
85 is much cooler than 107. Glad you’re finding some relief from the heat.
I look forward to seeing photos of your quilts!

  2. So nice that you are able to enjoy some cooler temperatures and that you have escaped COVID-19.
I have had to get used to the changes on blogger too, but it hasn’t been too bad. I put off converting over until I saw that I would HAVE to change over shortly anyway.
There are advantages that come with retirement for sure.
Glad you have returned to blogging.

    1. When it comes to technology, changes can be pretty intimidating. I was relieved to find it easier instead of more complicated! I hope the same was true for Blogger. The freedom of retirement has been such a blessing to me, and probably a blessing to Papa Bear because I am less grouchy now! 🙂

Glad you have returned to blogging. Hope you have a great week.

  4. I’m glad you found your way back to the blogging world. Good to see you “out and about” 🙂
I chuckled reading #3. Not at you but at me! I’ve resisted clicking on the suggested links for “making things easier” at WordPress out of simple fear of messing everything up! Don’t remember when the fear of trying new things came ’round, lol. Glad to hear you say it’s easy.
A lovely list of thankfuls and may your temps stay moderate and comfortable 😀

    1. Regarding number three, I was very hesitant to push that go ahead and try it button, fearing it would mess up what I already had from previous blogging days and what little I remembered how to do. I was so relieved to discover that it had simplified the process to the point that it is now easy to do a new post from the convenience of my phone, no HTML stuff to play with. Do try it, you won’t be sorry! 🙂

  5. Wait a minute! I know you!
    (lol could not resist)
Serially, good to ‘see’ you here (and over at the Six Sentence Story) again.
Surely familiar voices* are welcome things in a world that exhibits this quality in decreasing amounts.

*voice, that thing we (or at least us at the Doctrine) so desperately wanted to acquire when we first arrived at this virtual world.

    1. Hi Clark! Thanks for the welcome back! 😊 You know you’ve been away too long when keyboarding feels awkward! In truth, blogging was the first experience where I felt like I had a voice and found others I that could relate to. You are one of those. 🙂

    1. I am happy to be back to writing again. I didn’t get a 10 Things of Thankful written for this past week but I will be posting one again this weekend! It’s a great exercise in remembering to be grateful.
