Today I am thankful for windows with views in all four directions. That may seem like a rather ordinary thing, but if you’ve ever lived in an apartment that had only a front window and maybe a small one in the back, you know how claustrophobic that can be. I spent many years working in offices with no windows at all, and they were so dreary. I’ve watched the seasons turn from the confinement of wire covered windows too. I hated that.
We live in a simple manufactured house in rural west Texas, but I love my home. I grumble a lot about the heat, dust, and lack of trees, grass and water, but the land is flat here and I can see for miles. The sunrises and sunsets are amazing. I love watching storms build up and roll in too.
That brings me back to windows. We have large windows in each room, and if the blinds open I can see light pouring in from all directions from my chair in the living room. I love the starry canopy of night out here, but I love the light of day and the wide-open view even more.
