Sparks #17

My friend Annie at McGuffy’s Reader started a wonderful blog hop called Sparks with the intent to share an inspirational thought each Monday, and she’s invited us to join her. I think this is an awesome idea, and a great way to start the week!

The photo quote above carries such a simple message, and yet it is such a powerful truth! Kindness is so badly needed in our world, and it truly is amazing how one kind word can make a difference.

I know you’ve had it happen before, you were out somewhere and a complete stranger took the time to say something nice to you.  It made you feel great, didn’t it?  It doesn’t have to be a stranger either, kind words should be at the forefront of our thoughts with every interaction we have, be it personal or public.

Kindness is contagious, it creates a ripple effect, so today and every day from now on, make an effort to say something kind. Surprise people, it only takes a moment of your time, and it will make you feel good too! 🙂

Come and check out Sparks, find your inspiration for the week there,  and maybe share something too!

untitled (51)Many of you are familiar with the “Thought for the Day” posts on my Facebook page that carry messages of hope and encouragement, and I look forward to sharing similar things here.

Author: Josie Two Shoes

I've been blogging off and on since August of 2006. I adopted the pen name Josie Two Shoes in 2007 as I began a new chapter of my life standing on my own two feet. Now I'm married to the man of my dreams; we live in dusty West Texas with a house full of furkids. I am an Aquarian by birth, and although I am past sixty and slightly frayed around the edges, my fascination with this thing called life continues. Faith, family, and friends are important to me; so are honesty, trust, tolerance, compassion and kindness. I'm pretty up front about most things, so if you want to know something more about me, just ask! :-) You can also reach me by email and find me at my Facebook page.

  1. The Dalai Lama said, “Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.” I always think of this, and it always inspires me to reach out. Sometimes it is an impatient cashier, or a rushed waitress, or maybe an irritable neighbor. But, I think of kindness, and I reach out with it. I feel better, and usually, others do, too.
I don’t spend much time on Facebook, and am not really familiar with your posts there. But, thank you for adding your Sparks to ours here. Hugs.

    1. You are right that when we are kind to others it makes us feel good too! It’s fun to watch someone transform in front of you by a few kind words spoken.

I hope you’ll drop by my Facebook page sometime and check out my Thoughts, I love following your “Wordless Wednesday” posts that promote animals needing forever homes!<3

  2. A truly simple and lovely spark. Sometimes it can also have a boomerang effect too and come back to you in a positive way. It can happen when you’re not having a particularly good moment, but you force yourself to show a little smile to the next person anyway. That person lights up and in turn, it makes you feel better and you think to yourself “it’s all good” 🙂

    1. You understand the concept perfectly! In fact any good we do returns to us and makes our lives happier. Caring for and about others is what we were meant to do! Smiles are contagious things! 🙂
